What is Nonviolence?

It’s a way of life, a philosophy, a set of practices, and a toolbox for making change. It can help you deal with conflicts at home or work. It can be used to transform society. Nonviolence is a BIG idea—and this teach-in is a chance to explore it a little.

What to Expect:
This virtual workshop will introduce you to the fundamental concepts of nonviolence, providing an alternative to the violence our society faces. We’ll discuss nonviolence towards ourselves, others, and our communities, covering topics such as:

  • Understanding the spectrum of violence and nonviolence

  • Self-care practices

  • Skills for managing conflict

  • Nonviolent solutions to systemic violence

  • Techniques for de-escalation and violence interruption

On October 2, as we honor Mahatma Gandhi, join us and the Nonviolent Cities Project in this collective effort to promote nonviolence.
