In times of rising extremism and hate, this special gathering invites you to explore how ordinary people can help create space for those beliefs to change. Using short documentary videos and engaging group discussion, we will explore the stories of how Christian Picciolini left the neo-Nazis and filmmaker Deeyah Khan’s Radical Compassion in the face of extremism. Participants will watch a short talk by Christian Picciolini about his journey, and then two short interviews by Deeyah Khan, a Muslim woman who decided to interview white supremacists, jihadists, and other hate group members. Following the videos, we will open a series of discussion questions, exploring the themes of fear and curiosity, hate and openness, and what helps to dismantle extremism.

As we build a culture of active nonviolence, these stories offer us tangible examples of how interpersonal nonviolence holds powerful potential for dismantling hate and extremism. This special gathering is designed to open up the conversation about how we can support these shifts in our communities, friends, and networks.

Cost: $20, scholarships available, no one turned away for lack of funds. Do you have a scholarship request? Email us at info@paceebene.org.
