De-escalation Training
Thursday October 1, 2020 at: 1-3pm Pacific / 2-4pm Mtn / 3-5pm Central / 4-6pm Eastern, online via Zoom.
Join us for a de-escalation training with important elements of bystander intervention education, led by Adam Vogal, the training coordinator of the Portland Peace Team. The Portland Peace Team's purpose is to oppose, de-escalate, and intervene in violence, whether the violence is committed by police, demonstrators, the observing public, or others. What to expect at the training?
"In our time together, we will be learning some of the skills needed to safely de-escalate situations and people so that everyone can be safer, avoid violence, and help encourage and build the peaceful society we all want to be a part of together."
Requirements: The course will be held on Zoom. Participants must have internet access, and microphone and video on their computer.
Participants are strongly encouraged to invite friends and community members. Shared knowledge increases the power of active nonviolence in our communities!

FACILITATOR
Adam holds an M.S. in Conflict Resolution from Portland State University and is certified in advanced mediation and negotiation. He is president of the Oregon Peace Institute and the CEO of The Peace Professionals, LLC. He is also the associate editor of the Oregon Peace Institute’s highly effective and influential national PeaceVoice program. Adam was also one of our trainers for the August 7th training during the Campaign Nonviolence Conference.
