The theme for our events is: "Widening the Lens of Nonviolence." We are planning the following activities:

Sept. 8 at 3:00 p.m. at Bethel College: We will screen the film, "Lost Angels: Skid Row is My Home," followed by an audience discussion led by area experts on local homelessness.

Sept. 16 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Bethel College: The local organization Peace Connections will host a Poverty Simulation.

Sept. 18 from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. at Bethel College: The Colorado-based organization Raw Tools will turn guns into gardening tools. This activity will be live-streamed indoors, where we will have testimonials from victims of gun violence; as well as a letter-writing campaign to area correctional institution inmates, first responders, and trauma center workers.

Sept. 19 at 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at First Church of God: We will host a community cookout, another Raw Tools demo, and letter-writing campaign. This will be followed at 7:00 pm. by the film, "Inside Peace."

Sept. 22 at 7:00 p.m. at Bethel College: Our activities culminate with a lecture by Palwasha Kakar, a Bethel College graduate and current senior program officer at the U.S. Institute of Peace.
