A three hour (with a long, juicy break), webinar exploring the power of music in nonviolent movements. In this participatory session, we will share inspiring examples of music as a force of change, listen to creative uses of music in nonviolent movements, and look at how to weave music in our actions. From the Singing Revolution to the Civil Rights Movement to the songs of the US Labor Movement, to Afro-American Music and more. Music has given us strength, courage, and endurance as we stand up for peace and justice. This webinar is organized in conjunction with Pace e Bene's virtual music festival, For Goodness Sake on August 21.

ABOUT THE FACILITATORS:

Veronica Pelicaric is co-author of Pace e Bene’s nonviolence study guide Engaging Nonviolence: Activating Nonviolent Change in Ourselves and Our World (Pace e Bene Press, 2019). She is training coordinator at Pace e Bene and has led nonviolence workshops in Colombia, Peru, Venezuela, Argentina, Haiti, Australia, Britain, and the Netherlands.

Rivera Sun is a nationwide trainer in strategy for nonviolent movements. She is the author of The Dandelion Insurrection, The Way Between, and other novels. She is the editor of Nonviolence News. She serves on the Advisory Board of World Beyond War and Backbone Campaign. Rivera helps coordinate Action Week and Nonviolent Cities Project for Campaign Nonviolence.

Henry Cervantes is the program manager of Peace Exchange. He is also an artist, educator, and organizer who focuses on nonviolence and restorative justice and has trained activists from Asia, the Middle East, Central and South America.
