Facilitated by Reading To End Racism Cofounder Daniel Escalante, supported by Pace e Bene/Campaign Nonviolence's Rivera Sun

In this 4-week webinar, Reading To End Racism Cofounder Daniel Escalante will guide you through how to use personal stories and books to open up meaningful conversation about the impacts of racism and how to dismantle it. This course will offer trainings, practice sessions, and weekly assignments in applying the knowledge we’ve explored each week. Daniel will facilitate group discussions and share his experience working with tens of thousands of schoolchildren over twenty years. Pace e Bene trainer Rivera Sun will also connect this work with Pace e Bene/Campaign Nonviolence's mission to create a culture of active nonviolence, free from war, poverty, racism, and environmental destruction.

Week 1: How to tell personal stories about how racism impacts people
Week 2: How to use books skillfully to address racism and ending racism
Week 3: How to open up a discussion with young people about racism
Week 4: How to put these skills together to identify ways to end racism

Participants will learn how to:

  • use books and stories to help children understand racism

  • listen in a way that helps children express and learn

  • facilitate a conversation that helps identify ways to help end racism

  • become more articulate and courageous about ending racism

  • foster a deeper understanding of racism and ending racism in your family
