REND YOUR HEARTS: A LENTEN JOURNEY INTO NONVIOLENCE

Course Description:
To turn from evil and do good is the Lenten invitation. Pace e Bene is offering a Lenten Retreat with our nonviolence manual Engaging Nonviolence as a way to respond to this invitation. Beginning on Ash Wednesday, the class consists of six ninety minute sessions each Wednesday during Lent. Participants will explore the evils and dynamics of the violence that confront us. In addition they will gain an understanding of the goodness and power of nonviolence and how it offers a path to personal and social transformation.
This virtual class will incorporate prayer, journaling, discussion and interactive exercises taken from the Engaging Nonviolence Curriculum. Participants will need to purchase a copy of Engaging Nonviolence.

Session 4: Spiritual Principles and Practices of Nonviolence

REQUIREMENT: Have a good internet connection and understand how zoom works. No previous experience required. Participants will also need to purchase a copy of Engaging Nonviolence.
FACILITATOR
Julia Occhiogrosso
Julia founded, in 1986, the Las Vegas Catholic Worker. In 1989 she joined the circle of activists who aspired to explore more deeply the transformative implications of nonviolence and became one of the founding members of Pace e Bene. Today she continues to live in community with her partner Gary Cavalier at the Las Vegas Catholic Worker. There, she prepares soup for street people, gardens and strives to integrate contemplation with her daily experiments in nonviolence.
