JOHN DEAR
as he talks about, reads and signs his new book
“PRAISE BE PEACE”
“Praise Be Peace:” “The Psalms of Peace and Nonviolence in a Time of War and Climate Change”
John Dear will reflect on the anti-war, pro-peace psalms, and the psalms that celebrate creation, as a way to ground ourselves in faith and trust in the God of peace during these times of war and climate change, then take questions and sign books.
“Come and behold the works of the God of peace who has done awesome deeds on earth, who stops wars to the ends of the earth, breaks the war bow, shatters the war spear, and burns the shields with fire, who says: ‘Be still and know that I am the God of peace,’” we read in Psalm 46.
“The God of peace takes no delight in the strength of the war horse, no pleasure in the stride of the warrior,” we read in Psalm 147. “Rather, the God of peace takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who hope in his steadfast love.” With Rev. John Dear’s guidance, we will reflect on these ancient texts to dig deeper spiritual roots, trust in the God of peace, deepen our peace and nonviolence, and go forward in faith, nonviolence, resistance, and hope to work for a more nonviolent world.
