Campaign Nonviolence NC Sponsors Rally, Dinner, and a Movie for Racial & Criminal Justice Reform on Jones St.
During both the pre- & post-Civil War eras, lynching was used with impunity by patrols of KKK members to intimidate, terrorize, incarcerate & kill black people. Then as now, unpunished acts of racial intimidation & violence by citizens and officers sworn to protect and serve the people, perpetuate racism in today’s Criminal Justice System. On August 24 please join Campaign Nonviolence NC on Raleigh’s Bi-Centennial Mall. At 5 p.m. Dr. Kimberly Muktarian, DC lobbyist & President of Save Our Sons of Raleigh will lead a Rally for Racial & Criminal Justice Reform on Jones St. At 6 p.m. those interested in joining us for dinner & discussion of the film “Wilmington on Fire,” are invited to march with Dr. Kimberly & CNV members to First Baptist Church Family Life Center, 101 S. Wilmington St.
Following the film, Dr. Kimberly will answer questions re: “Modern Day Lynching” and her involvement in a state-to-state anti-lynching initiative. A Love Offering will be collected to offset costs for this event. For QUESTIONS and/or to make RESERVATIONS, please CALL 919-559-5549 or TEXT “DINNER & A MOVIE” to the same iPhone, in order to LEAVE NAMES of ATTENDEES w/ CNV Event Coordinator, Barbara Smalley-McMahan.
