Stand for Peace & Planet: Join the Campaign Nonviolence Action Days!

In the face of escalating climate concerns and the far-reaching impacts of militarism, we invite you to join the Campaign Nonviolence Action Days call for Peace & Planet anytime between September 21st through October 2nd—a powerful movement for change. Peace and a thriving planet are two sides of the same coin. As we address the interconnected challenges of environmental degradation and militarism, your dedication is vital in creating a harmonious world where both peace and the environment flourish.

We're calling on climate and peace activists to unite in addressing the critical issues of military pollution, fossil fuels, and militarized police. Let’s build a powerful coalition that highlights the crucial connection between our desire for peace and the need for a healthy, living planet.

Some of the ways to get involved include, but are not limited to:

Option 1: Peace & Planet Solidarity:

Show up for one another. Our issues are connected … and are movements should be, too. Make an effort to reach out across campaigns and find ways to support each other's efforts, take action together, and show solidarity between our movements.

Option 2: Connect the dots between climate and militarism.

With the combined crises of war and climate, we’re asking people to take action that connects the dots between peace and planet. This could be:

  • Visibility actions (protests, posters, banner drops, etc.) that raise awareness that war steals resources and focus from the need for widespread shifts toward sustainability.

  • Calling for ceasefires in current war zones, with a reminder that war is bad for people and planet.

  • Demonstrations, protests, or other actions that call attention to opposing military destruction of the planet, including military base pollution.

  • Divestment actions like letters, phone calls, sit-ins, account closures, etc. that challenge city funds, banks, colleges, and businesses to move money out of weapons and fossil fuels, and reinvest those funds in renewable energy.

Option 3: Celebrate Peace & Planet with children.

With young people, we ask that you invite them to envision a world of peace and a planet in balance, a true home for humanity. Actions for this might include:

  • Making art that depicts the theme of Peace & Planet

  • Creating murals that show a vision of a peaceful, sustainable world

  • Using sidewalk chalk to make a message board to leaders, asking them to take action for peace and planet.

  • Opening up a sharing circle around why they want to live in a peaceful world on a healthy planet.

Whether you’re part of an environmental group, a peace contingent, or an individual committed to making a difference, your involvement is important. In addition to these options, we welcome your ideas! If you can contribute at least one action, no matter how big or how small to uplift the global call for Peace & Planet, please let us know here. I will follow up with you later for the full details.

In the meantime, feel free to read more about our 2024 calls to action, check out what others are planning, and share this message.
