Twin Cities Nonviolent’s Short Video Chosen As A Finalist In My Hero International Film Festival

A short film by Twin Cities Nonviolent, part of our Nonviolent Cities Project, has been selected as a finalist for the My Hero International Film Festival. Annually, the festival brings together professional and student filmmakers to honor heroes from around the world. The films help viewers discover inspiring people who are making a difference.

Twin Cities Nonviolent’s 10-min film 8 Points To Peace uplifts the work they’ve been doing over the years to end violence and advance nonviolent solutions. Organizer and filmmaker Bill L’Herault says, “We made the film to introduce our mission, describe sources or types of violence and to promote the 12 Days Free From Violence program for 2022.”

Each year on or around the Campaign Nonviolence Action Days (Sept 21-Oct 2), Twin Cities Nonviolent puts together the 12 Days Free From Violence Program. On each day, they highlight the work of local groups and individuals that are ending violence. They also encourage people to refrain from violence during that time, and organize marches, rallies, and other public events. Among other on-going and past projects, the group has also trained peacemakers with Nonviolent Peaceforce and used nonviolent security and conflict resolutions skills to replace cops at a local high school.
