Nonviolent Seaford Tables At Tailgate Event
Beth Kopicki organizes Nonviolent Seaford, DE, part of the Nonviolent Cities Project. Recently, she set up a table to promote nonviolence and the idea of a Nonviolent City at Seaford School District's Senior Night Tailgate event. Beth writes, "I talked to lots of folks, distributed 33 brochures in an hour, made a number of school and community contacts, and lost my voice competing with the DJ."
Ironically, the JROTC set up their table right next to hers. Fortunately, her nonviolent message reminded youth and families that there are other options. Beth reports that the middle school art teacher will be having her students participate in the Visionary Peace Youth Art exhibit next week. This annual event is sponsored by Pacem in Terris, a group connected with Nonviolent Wilmington, DE. Beth also circulated coloring pages celebrating nonviolence and peace heroes drawn from the impressive list curated by "Do One Thing." Each page was personalized for Nonviolent Seaford.
