Monica Juma of CNV Memphis shares about their 2020 events.

We've had a fun and inspiring week so far. We had a youth panel discussion on Thursday, organized by Janiece Lee with Memphis Interfaith Coalition for Action and Hope (community organizing group that CNV Memphis is a partner of).

The recorded video link can be found here https://www.facebook.com/MICAH901

The youth talked about their nonviolent heroes and their vision for a nonviolent, just Memphis.

Wednesday we had a Concert for Nonviolence organized by Paul Crum and over 20 local artists recorded songs—posted here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/336112063931670 (over 200 views!)

Tuesday TM Garret shared his story from a former KKK leader to a peace and justice activist.  https://www.facebook.com/officialtmgarret

Monday night Charlie Belenkey took us through the history of anti-war and peace movements from WWII to JKF.

Sunday was our Sun Salutations for peace led by Debbie Burch. She also helped organize Peace and Harmony Days where Buddhist monk and teacher Khenpo led daily evening meditations (M-W).

Last Saturday, Swamiji lead a talk about unity and peace (live streamed from India)—which had over 800 views! This was organized by Anjana Challa in Memphis.

We also had an evening session Saturday hosted by the Bahai community and an Indian dance performance, organized by Saci Roy.

Saturday we had our last event—an adult panel discussion on a vision for a Nonviolent Memphis.

We are getting ready for a public action with MICAH where on 10/25 we will ask public leaders to commit to working with us on issues of nonviolence and justice. It will be virtual this year and so all the partners of MICAH (over 50!) were asked to record a short "roll call," pictured above.
