Join Us In Racial Healing and Unity: Campaign Nonviolence Action Days

Living in a world of rich cultures and diverse backgrounds, we must come together to cultivate mutual understanding. Healing the wounds of racism and prejudice is a vital step toward this unity. One meaningful way to contribute is by participating in a racial healing circle. Join us this year for Campaign Nonviolence Action Days, anytime between September 21st and October 2nd, in our call for Racial Justice Healing Circles. This call aims to create spaces where people can come together, share their stories, listen deeply, and build empathy. We also urge everyone to engage in anti-harassment or bystander intervention training to prevent racially-based harassment. With the increase in hate crimes, these skills are essential for protecting those affected.

Here are some actions you can take as part of this call:

  • Host a Racial Healing Circle. Bring people together for honest conversations about racism in your community. Invite friends and neighbors, and even local officials. Reach out to BIPOC organizations, diversity committees, migrant rights organizations, groups working to stop anti-Asian hate, Indigenous groups, and so forth.

  • Host an interfaith panel discussion on the themes of diversity, healing and reconciliation. Ask faith leaders to address racial healing in sermons and talks.

  • Use a whiteboard, chalkboard wall, or poster board with the words, “I will promote racial healing by…” at the top and ask people to fill in their ideas.

  • Hold a visioning exercise to imagine “a community beyond racism”.

  • Train your community in how to counter harassment.

  • Gather friends for an online anti-harassment training with Right To Be.

Along with these actions, we welcome your ideas and participation, no matter the scale! If you’re interested in being involved complete this short form to let us know. Also, to prepare, we recommend checking out our training on The Power of Listening Circles for Racial Healing, facilitated by Camille Bennett, the Founder and Executive Director of Project Say Something. You will learn how to use listening circles as part of racial healing work as she guides you through how they work, how to organize them, and how to facilitate them skillfully.
