Pace e Bene Nonviolence Service is a non-profit organization working to foster a just and peaceful world through nonviolence education, community-building, and action. For over 30 years we have been leading nonviolence trainings, publishing books, and organizing actions for a nonviolent world. We are currently seeking to contract with someone for four months who is passionate and knowledgeable about nonviolence and who can help provide media outreach focused on our Campaign Nonviolence Action Days Sept. 21-Oct. 2, 2024.

We prefer applicants to be based in the United States, though qualified international candidates may be considered. 

Applicants must be available for weekly online staff meetings and have the ability to work remotely and independently.

Position Purpose: To coordinate media outreach before, during and after Campaign Nonviolence Actions Days, Sept. 21 - Oct. 2, 2024

Hours/Pay: This is a part-time independent contractor position for 4 months, July - October 2024.  It starts at 10 hours/week at $20.00/hour. No other benefits or compensation are available at this time and as a contractor no taxes will be withheld from paychecks.

Position requirements and responsibilities:

  • Write press releases for Action Organizers to use

  • Be available to talk with local organizers about media outreach over phone or zoom.

  • Reach out to media outlets such as NPR, Commondreams, etc about Action Days

  • Create material and post to our social media accounts about Action Days

  • Overall, help to uplift all the actions happening during Action Days through online and print avenues.

  • Create a media outreach database.

  • Join weekly online staff meetings.

Important Position Skills:

  • Good communication skills.

  • Independently motivated and organized. You’ll be working from home, but doing a lot of phone, email, and zoom conversations.  

  • Ability to collaborate with others on our small team.  

  • Strong commitment to the practice of nonviolence.

  • Experience and familiarity working in the field of nonviolence is a plus.

Timing: The start date is flexible, though we hope to have someone start by early July, 2024..
