Lebanon on the Edge—Your Support Can Make a Difference
Lebanon is enduring one of its darkest moments, grappling with a severe humanitarian crisis exacerbated by political paralysis, economic collapse, and ongoing conflict. The current state of affairs has left 809,043 Internally displaced people, making the Lebanese vulnerable to displacement, hunger, and a complete lack of access to essential services. As the international community watches, your support could be the lifeline that helps them survive and rebuild.
What is happening?
The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has transformed southern and eastern Lebanon into battle zones, with Israeli airstrikes targeting both civilian and militant infrastructure. Casualties continue to rise, with 2,412 deaths and 11,285 injuries reported as of October 20, 2024 (Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health). The worst affected are civilians—Syrian and Palestinian refugees, children, mothers, families, and the elderly—who find themselves trapped in a conflict they have no part in, unable to escape.
Public services are on the brink of collapse. At least 500 public schools—about half of Lebanon’s public schools—are now being used as collective shelters, making education almost entirely inaccessible.
The healthcare system is in a state of emergency, with 98 health facilities rendered dysfunctional after the death of 87 healthcare workers.
Lebanon’s government remains paralyzed by internal divisions and corruption. Political deadlock has prevented the formation of a functional government, rendering the state incapable of responding effectively to the crisis. This lack of leadership leaves Lebanon without a safety net, its institutions failing, and its people abandoned.
In tandem with this conflict, Lebanon's economic crisis has plunged 80% of the population into poverty (UN ESCWA). The Lebanese pound has lost over 90% of its value since 2019, and inflation has made basic necessities—food, water, electricity—unaffordable for most. With no end in sight to the financial freefall, people are forced to make impossible choices between feeding their families and buying critical medicines.
Yet, in the face of violence and aggression, Lebanon’s people continue to turn to nonviolence as a powerful force for change. From the streets of Beirut to the displaced families in the south, the Lebanese are resisting with resilience, advocating for justice and peace without resorting to violence.
We have seen time and again that nonviolent movements can transform societies. Lebanon’s October 17 Revolution in 2019 was a profound example, where peaceful protesters demanded accountability and an end to corruption. That spirit of nonviolent resistance still endures today—but it needs our support.
How you can make a difference:
We are calling on you, as part of the international community, to stand in solidarity with Lebanon. Your donation—no matter the size—can help protect the voices of journalists, provide life-saving medical care, and support grassroots relief efforts.
Journalists on the Frontlines—Silenced Voices in Need of Protection
In the midst of this chaos, journalists have become essential witnesses, documenting the atrocities and suffering on the ground. But they are increasingly at risk. Over 150 journalists have lost their homes, belongings, and even their safety, forced to move from place to place. Their work has become not only dangerous but nearly impossible under these conditions.
The Samir Kassir Foundation is stepping in to protect these journalists, offering:
Physical security to reporters on the ground.
Juridic assistance to defend them from legal threats.
Training for covering war zones and reporting in dangerous conditions.
Without journalists, the world will not know the extent of the crisis, and violations will go undocumented. Your support can help ensure their safety and allow them to continue their critical work.

Supporting Lifesaving Work—The Lebanese Red Cross
The Lebanese Red Cross is at the forefront of responding to the humanitarian disaster, but they are overwhelmed by the sheer volume of needs. They urgently require:
Ambulances and medical supplies to continue transporting and treating the wounded.
Blood transfusion kits, medications, and consumables to sustain lifesaving operations.
Funding to maintain their emergency response, which serves as the last line of defense for millions of Lebanese citizens.
