Nonviolent Morro Bay Launches Podcast

Yes We Can Peacebuilders coordinates Nonviolent Morro Bay, Calif. They have recently launched the On The Air Podcast hosted by organizer and long-time journalist Ruth Ann Angus.

On The Air Podcast visits with Sarah Kamp, a recent graduate of California Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo County. Sarah earned her degree in Science and Public Health and is going on to a Master's accelerated program in Educational Leadership.

In this podcast she speaks on how students are feeling about the violence occurring at schools across the country and how the isolation of Covid affected them as they continued their education. She talks about her fears regarding climate change and whether to ever bring a child into this world. She talks about the "whiteness" of the university she is attending and the issue of racism in the community and the country. She speaks to the issues that LGBTQ students face.

Kamp is concerned about the high cost of housing in comparison to the average salaries available to graduates. She feels strongly that every child deserves the chance at a higher education regardless of their economic status and how there should be a change in attitude regarding other life choices and job opportunities for those not attending college.

She speaks about the need to end war and worldwide nuclear buildup. She tells how students feel on these issues and how there is a need for understanding and acceptance of everyone.

She answers the questions, "Where do you think the world is going?" and "Do students feel the country has let them down?" You might be surprised by her answers. This is a thought-provoking talk that every adult should listen to.
