HIRING A COORDINATOR OF EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS

Pace e Bene Nonviolence Service is a non-profit organization working to foster a just and peaceful world through nonviolence education, community-building, and action. For over 30 years we have been leading nonviolence trainings, publishing books, and organizing actions for a nonviolent world. We are currently seeking to contract with someone passionate and knowledgeable about nonviolence to help organize and schedule our various online (and occasional in-person) trainings and workshops. 

We prefer applicants to be based in the United States, though qualified international candidates may be considered. 

Applicants must be available for weekly online staff meetings and have the ability to work remotely and independently.

Position Purpose: To coordinate Pace e Bene’s nonviolence education and training programs.

Hours/Pay: This is a part-time independent contractor position to be renewed annually upon evaluation. It starts at 10 hours/week at $20.00/hour. There is a possibility for the hours to be expanded at a later date, depending on funding. No other benefits or compensation are available at this time and as a contractor no taxes will be withheld from paychecks.

Position requirements and responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and help organize yearly trainings and workshops for Pace e Bene, including:

    • Assisting with any requests that come for in-person or online trainings for specific groups.

    • Organizing monthly online trainings, workshops and other speaking events for the general public featuring a broad range of facilitators.

  • Foster participation in Pace e Bene trainings, both in total number of participants, and their diversity in age, race, gender, and background.

  • Provide support and mentorship for individuals looking for guidance on nonviolence education.

  • Provide support and guidance for groups organizing nonviolence study groups

  • If you're an experienced nonviolence trainer, we also welcome you to personally facilitate nonviolence trainings and workshops if interested and available. This would be compensated according to our trainers fee schedule, separate from this contract.

  • Help identify new trainers to lead workshops.

  • Help new facilitators get acquainted with Pace e Bene and our training process, including:

    • Explaining our fees/scholarship policies for participants

    • Explaining what we pay facilitators

    • Explaining the types of support we provide for online programs, including technical support and outreach to registered participants.

    • Signing any necessary contracts

  • Help facilitators to set up training details, including:

    • Finding dates for their trainings.

    • Help them figure out the length of training (e.g. 2 hours, multi-week course).

    • Reviewing their agenda for courses to make sure it will fit within our training schedule and that it will work well based on our past experiences.

    • Get all materials together for the training to be added to our website, including a good detailed description of the training.

    • Figure out the amount to charge.

    • Decide if they will need tech support.

  • Work closely with our lead trainer, Rivera Sun to help coordinate a diversity of trainings and courses that fit within our mission.

  • Make sure all trainings have a followup feedback form and analyze the effectiveness of each training after it has completed.

  • Work with staff to design a series of pre-recorded trainings.

Important Position Skills:

  • Good communication skills.

  • Independently motivated and organized. You’ll be working from home, but doing a lot of phone, email, and zoom conversations.

  • Ability to collaborate with others on our small team.

  • Strong commitment to the practice of nonviolence.

Timing: The start date is flexible, though we hope to have someone start by the summer of 2022.
