People around the U.S. and beyond are preparing for the 6th Campaign Nonviolence Action Week September 14-22, 2019 where over 3000 actions focused on ending war, poverty, racism and environmental destruction for a culture of peace and nonviolence are taking place. Below are a couple highlights of what’s to come from St. Paul/Minneapolis and Memphis over the next week and some of the media highlights they’ve received so far.

There are a lot of other events taking place this coming week too. Check out the 100+ events happening in Wilmington, Delaware; Cincinnati, Ohio’s Hands Across the MLK Bridge for Peace; Little Rock, Arkansas’ Peace Week with 25 events, Clinton, Iowa is holding a dialogue about race and and got mentioned in their local paper. Finally, the End Gun Violence Rally at the US Capitol on the West Lawn is taking place on September 25th, 2019.

Twin Cities Nonviolent (St. Paul/Minneapolis Nonviolent Cities Project) is gearing up for over 40 events during Campaign Nonviolence Action Week, including their 10 Days Free From Violence on Sept 21., featuring Rev. James Lawson, American activist and university professor, leading theoretician and tactician of nonviolence within the Civil Rights Movement. Also featuring Fr. John Dear, teacher of nonviolence, Nobel Peace Prize nominee and author of They Will Inherit the Earth and Proclamation of Peace.

Right is a local news piece highlighting gun violence in the twin cities and promotion of Twin Cities Nonviolent events.

Campaign Nonviolence Memphis has seven different events taking place including a Concert for a Nonviolent Memphis, a talk on Drone Warfare & Resistance, Planting of the Peace Pole by Veterans for Peace, and a Gandhi-King Forum at the National Civil Rights Museum. Recently the major issued a joint proclamation naming the third week of September a "Week of Nonviolence" in Memphis and Shelby County and their local paper wrote about their work here.

They also got mentioned in a local tv news piece regarding a concert for peace they have planned.
