Liz Walz: Trainer
Liz Walz is a nonviolence trainer with Fellowship of Reconciliation as well as Pace e Bene Nonviolence Service. She is certified in Spiritual Direction in the tradition of Vincent de Paul, with special concern for poor and marginalized persons. She is also a Yoga teacher with certification in Yoga for Christians. In 1998, Liz co-founded Martha House Catholic Worker house in the Germantown section of Philadelphia. Community members have moved on and Liz has continued to offer hospitality over the years. Currently, she shares her home with Stephen, who makes great muffins and soups. On the fourth Sunday of Advent in 1999, Liz participated in the Plowshares vs. Depleted Uranium disarmament witness. She was eventually convicted of a misdemeanor charge of distruction of property and conspiracy by the State of Maryland and served 11 months and 20 days in jail. Liz's other creative pursuits include paper-making and stained glass. She has a cat named Isis.
