Irene Woodward has spent her academic career and vocation of over fifty years integrating the spiritual life with action for justice.  She has been a religious sister for 53 years. As a professor at Holy Names University, she taught philosophy, specifically social and political philosophy, and feminist perspectives.  Irene also served as President.  She was co-founder and Executive Director of Anawim House of Hope, a center of prayer and presence in a diverse, inner-city neighborhood. She edited The Catholic Church: The United States Experience and authored United States Women Religious: Signs of the Times or Signs of Contradiction? Since her retirement from teaching, she has mentored students in the Masters Program in Pastoral Ministry at Holy Names University, has volunteered for Pace e Bene, and continues to serve as a spiritual director.
