Hailing from the swamps of Florida, Christina Leaño is a second generation Filipina American who has been involved in various social and environmental movements for the past 15 years.  In 1998, she moved to the Philippines as a volunteer with the Mennonite Central Committee.  For two and a half years, she worked with the People's Task Force for Bases Clean Up, a non-governmental organzation focused on addressing the environmental contamination left behind at the former U.S. military bases in the Philippines. In 2000, she returned to the United States to co-found and become the first director of FACES, then called the Filipino/American Coalition for Environmental Solutions.

Christina was the Pace e Bene office manager in Oakland in 2002-2003. She formerly served as chair of the the Board of Directors for Pace e Bene and a member of the Engage Training Team. She earned her Masters of Arts degree from the Franciscan School of Theology in Berkeley.

Christina is currently the director of Malaya, an experiment in the liberating possibilities of the intersection of faith, spirituality and social justice.  She is also Outreach Director for California Interfaith Power and Light, an environmental organization focused on engaging the religious community on climate change issues.
