Bob is a priest of the Diocese of Savannah, GA. [Ordained Feb. 4,1978] He is the eldest son of 7 children of Bob & Doris Cushing. He has been involved with peacemaking and Pax Christi since 1982.
He enjoys learning about the way of reconciliation as nonviolence, celebrating the sacraments, teaching scripture, exploring Catholic Social Teaching, working with small faith communities, being a spiritual companion, doing pastoral work, and being a bridge between the pastoral and the prophetic traditions of the Catholic Church.
Throughout his life, Bob has been a pilgrim, going on pilgrimages since his childhood. In his adult years he made life-changing pilgrimages to Rome and Jerusalem, to Equador and Peru, to Haiti and Jamaica, to Russia and Lithuania, and most recently to Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This last pilgrimage has invited ongoing reconciliation within the church in bridging the gap between those invested in strictly pastoral work and those invested in living out the prophetic message of peacemaking in these times. After spending some time with Catholic Worker Communities this past winter, he has returned to work as a pastor in his Diocese of Savannah. Since September 1, 2006, he is hard at work in Cordele, GA, at St. Theresa Church.
