Recently, the Episcopal Peace Fellowship invited Pace e Bene to conduct a training on nonviolence in Haiti. On August 12th, PeB Trainer Veronica Pelicaric arrived in Haiti and began the four day workshop which was conducted in French and Creole. Over 140 individuals participated in the program and by the third day the large group had become a community.
Veronica presented a number of exercises from Engage: Exploring Nonviolent Living over the weekend, including: the Barometer of Violence, Circle of Truths, and the Two Hands of Nonviolence. Three episodes from A Force More Powerful video series were also presented, specifically episodes on Gandhi, Nashville and South Africa.
Pace e Bene looks forward to supporting the continuing nonviolence education in Haiti in the next year. In the mean time, Veronica is working on making connections with the Haitian community in Montreal where she lives.
