Vanessa Gomez Brake contributes to Illume Magazine

Last month, Pace e Bene office manager, Vanessa Gomez Brake took part in an Illume Magazine seminar titled, “Digital Journalism in the Age of Multi-media Storytelling.’ The weekend long training was hosted at the Islamic Cultural Center of Northern California, in association with the South Bay Islamic Association and the Council on American-Islamic Relations

The program included a panel of professionals gathered to discuss the importance of  local media activism. By the end of the weekend, participants had written, shot and produced a written and broadcast news story for the web. Participants also had the opportunity to tour CBS Studios in San Francisco with Anser Hassan, Assignment Editor.

Since successfully completing the intensive imageseminar last month, Vanessa has gone on to be a contributor to Illume Magazine. You can read her first article on the Interfaith Approach to Eradicating Malaria by clicking here. As their interfaith correspondent, you can expect to hear more from Vanessa in the near future.

Illume Magazine is an independent media organization that articulates the Muslim-American experience. Illume has won many journalism awards since its launch. Pace e Bene is excited that Vanessa has taken on this role in support of this new media source that is leading in Muslim-American media and journalism.
