Green the Block is Launched!

August 5th, 2009

On Tuesday, August 4, our partners at Hip Hop Caucus, and Pace e Bene Board Member Rev. Lennox Yearwood, Jr, announced Green the Block — a powerful new project promoting the economic and environmental benefits of going green — at a press conference at the White House on President Obama’s 48th birthday.

Thirty national organizations participated, along with Secretary Shaun Donovan of the Department of Housing and Urban Development, EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson, and Department of Energy Under Secretary Kristina Johnson. Check out photos of the event here.

Green the Block’s first milestone, The National Service Day, will take place on September 11, 2009.
