Local Highlight:
Exciting action plans for August and September are developing around the country in cities including Los Angeles, Milwaukee, San Francisco, Philadelphia and beyond! Below is one example of a how organizers are planning Declaration of Peace actions:
Philadelphia Area Declaration of Peace Campaign Action & Preparation Strategy Outline Proposal:
August 16: (day Cindy Sheehan resumes encampment at Bush Ranch, Crawford, TX) - Congressional Declaration of Peace
Philadelphia Area Pledge delegations to district home offices of Representative (s): Curt Weldon, Fallaka Fattah, Robert Brady, Alyson Swartz, all of the Phila. area, as office opens for the day; and noontime Philadelphia Center City Declaration of Peace Walk delivering the Congressional Declaration of Peace Pledge.
Labor Day Weekend: Declaration of Peace/U.S. Labor Against the War contingent in the Philadelphia Labor Day parade
September 10: Brandywine potluck program on the Declaration of Peace
September 20: Brandywine/Scribe Video showing of “The Camden 28” followed by panel on “what would you do to end a war?”
Declaration of Peace Actions, September 21 - 25 (Philadelphia Area):
Thursday, September 21: International Day of Peace Candlelight Vigils to Declare Peace (as part of the national candlelight vigils for the Declaration of Peace), in front of Old Christ Church, 2nd & Market Sts., Phila., PA
Friday, September 22: Declare Peace Delegation: Civil Disobedience and Demonstration at Widener Bldg., office of Senator Rick Santorum
Monday, September 25: Declare Peace Delegation: Civil Disobedience & Demonstration at Philadelphia Federal Building, office of Senator Arlen Specter
Continue building the Declaration of Peace by getting DoP pledges, letters to the editor, media work, flyering, and postering, and other creative outreach means to demonstrate the DoP. Schedule Basic Nonviolent Direct Action Training Workshops, Peacekeeping Workshops; and Civil Disobedience Workshop.

DoP Organizer Positions/Opportunities (volunteer-based):
We have much to accomplish together and invite others to join national organizing efforts! Below are a few areas we need help. Interested volunteers can contact Jennifer Kuiper at (650) 533-3239 or declarepeacepledge@yahoo.com.
Local Organizing Field Coordinators (10-15 people)
* Maintain contact and support for Local Organizers
* Liaison between grassroots efforts and national campaign
* Assist with updating calendar of grassroots activities
We are also looking for people to partipate in ongoing outreach to: endorsing organizations, media and funders.
