This past March 16, Christian Peace Witness for Iraq organized a powerful gathering of the faith community in Washington, DC and across the country calling for an end to the US war and for justice at home and abroad. In the nation’s capital 3,500 people prayed for peace in a powerful ecumenical service at the National Cathedral, and 222 people of faith were arrested as they engaged in nonviolent civil disobedience by praying for peace on the sidewalks of the White House.
Now, CPWI has launched the next phase of its work: an ongoing, nationwide vigil for peace until the war ends. It will also take part in an interfaith fast for peace in October. Finally, CPWI is also planning another national event in Washington, DC next spring.
Pace e Bene helped organized the March events and is involved in organizing this “continuous vigil.”
Please join this important journey of prayer and action.
See vigils taking place across the country!
