Video on November Rally Calling for an End to Police Brutality against Youth of Color —
Part of Year of Action for Justice
Organized by the Hoip Hop Caucus
This past year the Hip Hop Caucus organized a national tour to “Make Hip Hop, Not War,” and discussed the impact of the Iraq war on our communities at home.
It “Shut it Down” with Amnesty International and the ACLU, mobilizing thousands of people for a national lobby day to restore habeas corpus and call for the shutting down of Guantanamo.
It had the opportunity to travel to Jordan to meet with Iraqi refugees and officials, which inspired its Iraqi Refugee Project that will be launched in the coming months.
It continued to fight for the right to return of Katrina Survivors and to stop the demolition of public housing in New Orleans.
Most recently it mobilized thousands of young people at the foot of the Washington Monument who shouted: “Enough is Enough! Stop Hate Crimes and Police Brutality.” depicted in this new YouTube video:
Hip Hop Caucus is looking forward to continuing to engage, energize, organize and mobilize people to action during the 2008 election season.
