Male Peacebuilders Issue Collective Statement

Male peacebuilders from around the world recently gathered in the Netherlands to begin a pioneering two-year training of trainers program titled “Overcoming Violence - Exploring Masculinities, Violence and Peace.” One early outcome of the training is a collective statement produced by the participants affirming their commitment to gender-sensitive active non-violence, peacebuilding and gender justice.

Convinced that in order to transform cultures of war and violence, women peace activists need to work together with male allies, the Women Peacemakers Program of the International Fellowship of Reconciliation organized the program.

This first historic gathering will be followed by initiatives implemented in each of the home communities, and a follow-up training in July 2010.
