Pace e Bene staff person Fr. Louie Vitale, 77, is serving a six month sentence for his prayerful witness calling for the closure of the School of the Americas at Ft. Benning, Georgia. We have learned that he has been moved from Crisp County Jail in Cordele, Georgia, where he has been held for the past month. Here is a report from one of his support persons, Fr. Bob Cushing, who lives in Cordele:

Dear Circle of Friends who support Fr. Louie:
I just returned to my parish in Cordele from a little trip out of town to the doctor, and I got a call from one of the prisoners [one of Louie’s cell mates named “Robert”]. I noticed on the Rectory caller-ID that he had tried to reach me a half dozen times today while I was away. He said quite simply that Fr. Louie was transfered out at 3 AM this morning, and he had no idea where, but he said that Louie would be calling me soon to let me know.
I have heard nothing yet, so I have NO IDEA where they have taken him. I will let you know as soon as I hear anything. I still have his wallet and a few of his worldly possesions which I will bring to him somehow, as soon as I find out where they have taken him.
This is part of what we knew would probably happen, but we just didn’t know when. So now we have to move along to the next place, or station of his journey and re-establish support there.
Peace and all good, dear peacemakers,
Bob Cushing
