Julia Occhiogrosso has been a part of the Catholic Worker Movement for twenty years. She began her journey with the Los Angeles Catholic Worker community and later founded the Las Vegas Catholic Worker. Julia's introduction to nonviolence drew largely on the CW model of solidarity with the marginalized and resistance to social injustice based on the Gospel message of unconditional love in action.
In 1989 she was asked to be part of the founding community for Pace e Bene Franciscan Nonviolence Center. As part of the Pace e Bene community she was able to deepen and broaden her understanding of active nonviolence. She is presently the Southwest Regional Associate of the FVTW program. Julia, with her husband, Gary continues the Catholic Worker presence in Las Vegas. They are parents to Nicholas and Jonathan. Together with her family and community Julia is sustained and encouraged in the hope of living active nonviolence.
