Pace e Bene was founded in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1989. It has offices and meeting space in a low-income neighborhood in North Las Vegas.

After Louie Vitale had recently finished his stint as provincial of the Franciscan Friars of California, based in Oakland, he wanted to create a project that would seek to identify and transform society’s patterns of violence. At the same time, he wanted to return to Las Vegas where he had worked years before and where the Nevada Desert Experience was located, which Vitale had co-founded in 1984. (NDE is dedicated to ending nuclear weapons testing at the nearby Nevada Test Site.) Vitale began meeting with others about initiating this project in Las Vegas. Emerging from these discussions, Pace e Bene was founded by Louie Vitale, Rosemary Lynch, Alain Richard, Peter Ediger and Julia Occhiogrosso.

The organization was established on Bartlett Street in North Las Vegas, where it has been ever since. In addition to offering workshops and classes in Southern Nevada, Pace e Bene has been involved in a number of movements for justice and peace in Las Vegas, including NDE.

Peter Ediger is the office manager of the Las Vegas office. He coordinates many administrative projects, including shipping Pace e Bene book orders. He also facilitates Pace e Bene programs and workshops in Nevada.
