A DIFFERENT COMMEMORATION OF THE 9/11 TRAGEDY

Bay Area Codepink invites all peace and social justice friends to join us:

A DIFFERENT COMMEMORATION OF THE 9/11 TRAGEDY

      September 11, 2011, 11am-2:00pm

      San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge

In memory of those lives lost 10 years ago on Sept. 11, 2001

May their tragedy not continue to be manipulated to justify the violence committed by the U.S. in it’s perpetual wars and endless occupations.

In honor of their lives we call for an honest accounting of 9/11.

We also honor the over 1.5 million Iraqi, Afghan and Pakistani civilians dead.

WE NEED 2,500 PEOPLE TO RISE UP AND SAY ENOUGH!

Join us on September 11 as we march across the the Golden Gate Bridge, from both the SF and Marin side to join in the middle to create an undivided line of people from one end of the bridge to the other.  WE NEED YOU!

At a pre-designated time, we will face eastward toward SF, joining hands held up high, and stand for 5 minutes together, to mourn for the 9/11 victims and to demand an end to the terror of U.S. wars and illegal occupations.

THESE ARE NOT OUR WARS!  THE PEOPLE DECLARE PEACE!

11:00 am:  Gather at either end of the GG Bridge (northeast or southeast side)

A half hour of poetry, song, music, and connecting on both sides!

11:30-11:40 am:  Begin single file march on the bridge. Bring signs, drums, other instruments.

12:15:  A 5 min. joining of hands across the bridge in memory of all the victims of violence from 9/11 to the U.S. War on Terror, from victims of suicide bombs, to the victims of drone attacks…….WE STAND IN SOLIDARITY FOR NONVIOLENCE AND WORLD PEACE!

We will then continue the solidarity march for peace to the Marin side of bridge.

     1:00-2:00:  Rally and press conference.
