Workshop III:
The Depths of Nonviolent Action:
Tools for Becoming an Agent of Nonviolent Change

May 21-23, 2010
Ben Lomond Quaker Center
Ben Lomond, CA
Facilitated by Veronica Pelicaric, Ken Preston, and Ken Butigan

This three-day Pace e Bene workshop will provide tools, lenses and concrete practices for taking spiritually-grounded action to unleash the transforming power of active non-violence in our lives, our communities, and our world. To this end, it will:

  • Open space for each of us to name the crisis and opportunity that we see at this historic moment for our lives and our world;
  • Explore and sharpen our own calling and identity as agents of nonviolent change in light of this crisis and opportunity, and
  • Strengthen our ability to respond to this crisis and opportunity by creating and evaluating grounded nonviolent action, including participating in a public witness in nearby Santa Cruz.

In this workshop, the crises and opportunities we will name and engage will be seen in the broader context of the evolutionary process of our earth community that may be birthing a new experience of what it means to be fully human.

This workshop will be grounded in the vision and practice of Soulforce, which Gandhi called “the force which is born of truth and love, or nonviolence.”  Together we will explore the depths of nonviolent action through stories, video, role-plays, small and large group discussions, journaling, ritual, and processes that activate and integrate heart, body, mind and spirit.
