DAYLONG NONVIOLENT MASS OCCUPATION OF SAN FRANCISCO'S FINANCIAL DISTRICT

On Friday, January 20, 2012 in San Francisco’s Financial District there is going to be a DAYLONG NONVIOLENT MASS OCCUPATION of the Wall St. banks & corporations attacking our communities, homes, education, environment, livelihood, and democracy.

Check out www.occupywallstwest.org for all the different actions being planned for one of the biggest, self-organized actions in San Francisco.  Labor groups, housing activists, anti-Citizens United activists, environmentalists, economic justice groups are all picking targets so that we spread ourselves across the city.

ACTION MAP:  http://www.occupywallstwest.org/map/

Organizers would like to have a peace presence in this action and invite you to be part of an action protesting the waste and corruption of the Bechtel corporation and the ways that it’s power has influenced the nation’s budget priorities.

Members of Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW), Global Exchange, Fellowship of Reconciliation, New Priorities Campaign and others will hold a teach-in on January 20 at 3 pm in front of the 50 Beale Street headquarters of the military contractor giant Bechtel Corporation.  Activists also will staff an informational demonstration at Bechtel from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm.   Faith based activists (orrganized by ntorbett@seminaryofthestreet.org of Seminary of the Street) are planning to do Civil Disobedience early in the am by blocking the doors.

Increasing military spending announced this month lines the pockets of Bechtel executives and engineers and supports wars that protect the One Percent, while the growing number  of poor families confront disappearing social programs. Bechtel spends millions to lobby for war contracts, undermining democratic process, while directing billions of public dollars to build nuclear weapons and make its CEO a billionaire.

Join us at 3 pm and throughout the day to learn and expose military corporate waste and warmongering.
