My family is close with its extended relatives. As a child, highlights of my year always included family reunions. And, you guessed it, family reunions meant games, games, food, and more games. From basketball to Careers to puzzles, games were the prime activity.
Of all the games, though, my favorite by far was Dutch Blitz. Now, what is Dutch Blitz, you are most likely asking (unless you grew up Mennonite, Amish, or in close proximity to them). It is a Pennsylvania Dutch game labeled as being a “Vonderful Goot Game” which is a playoff of the phonetics of the PA Dutch accent saying “Wonderful Good Game”
Slightly too complex to explain the details, Dutch Blitz is a fast paced card game where each person tries to lay out as many cards in a round as they can. They have pile of ten cards which is the most important pile and other piles that are of no concern for this explanation. When those ten cards are done, the game is done and points are tallied according to the rules.
It is a very fun game. And it is cheap. Around 10-15 dollars. It can be played with 2 people and the deck has 4 sets. Though the game can be played with partners of two or with added decks (if you mark the backs of the cards with an X or other easily noted signifier for counting the cards at the end of the round and sorting them correctly.
I highly recommend buying the game and playing it with friends. It is a great bonding game for all ages that will provide great laughs and memories. You’ll find yourself carrying it in your purse or glove compartment for those long waits in airports or other times.

If none of the stores are near you, you can always buy it on ebay.
