EPYC in NZ: Empowering Kiwi kingdom seeking ecoprophet peacemakers

Passionfest” is conference of Kiwi New Monastic group Urban Vision and Servants (a movement of first world Christians moving into the slums of Asia’s Urban Poor) that’s supported by Anglican Diocese who aren’t afraid of the “Anabaptist Impulse” . :)

Passionfest

I’m excited that they are bringing us to New Zealand to be a part of a very alternative youth conference asking a new generation:

Are you stirred by the pain in this world and want to know how to respond?”

The other keynote speaker at the conference is biblical scholar and peace theologian Chris Marshall. Which I’m really, really excited about!!!! (if you don’t know Chris work he has made world leading contributions to the field of restorative justice in Biblical studies. If you want to jump in the deep end here is a fantastic article by Chris on “The Nonviolent Atonement”).

Other speakers include Kiwi Ploughshares activist Adi Leason, who caused Christ-like trouble after deflating a dome of a military spy base satellite (more pictures here).

 Waihopai satellite communications monitoring facility.

Other great grassroot leaders sharing include:

Mary & Mark Hurst (Mennoite Pastors/Peaceworkers)

Justin Duckworth (Co Founder of Urban Vision)
Luke Pilkinton (Singer/Songwriter)
Ants Watt
Matt Lamason (Peoples Coffee)
Leah Hutchison (Singer/songwriter)

So, if your in the land of the “long white cloud” with a passion for God’s new world of justice, peace and joy, we hope you’ll join us to share with others like me who aren’t experts but seeking to be practitioners of radical grace.

In unrelated yet inspiring news, a great article from Simon Moyle
