Beauty

Beauty roams the edges of wild weeping
An apostrophe connecting
Two souls contracted
In the agony of loss;
Loosens and opens
The vast domain of sorrow
To spill tears and memories
As a sacred gift
Upon the ground of rebirth.

Beauty burrows into the soul
And illuminates
The dark labyrinth of cares
With a many candled glow
Soft and sensitive
Ministration of light
Caresses flickering and winking form
Into shapes of wonder
Until the once cold tunnels
Contract and expand
In the pulsing rhythm
Of  birthplace.

Beauty garners burden
As booty
And bids the heavy laden
To let the burden down
Into earth’s arms
Where pause permits review
And impression is transformed
Until the load is sweet
And taken up again
Re-borne
Light and lovely.

Beauty blesses
And nature rouses
Taught with delight and expectation
Fertile and feral
Sighing and crying
Through to murmur
Until at last,
Speechless awe.

Beauty transforms the narrow notion
That life may hold but one path of delight;
Luminous reveals
The bountiful table of choices
Laid with lavish generosity
And holy welcome
To the many wide worlds of joy.
